Mangaluru, April 28: Those of us who live in Karnataka make use of the local resources to lead our lives. In such a situation, it is our duty to repay the debt we owe to Kannada, said Raymond D'Cunha Taccode, President of the Mangalore City unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KASAPA).
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kannada Literary Association by lighting the lamp at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Dakshina Kannada.
He stated that even though our mother tongue may be different, while living in Karnataka we must acknowledge the contribution of Kannada and work to preserve our sibling languages.
Presiding over the event, DIET Principal and Director Rajalakshmi K. said, “We had long wished to start a Kannada Literary Association. Although we had conducted programs before, this one is official.”
Senior faculty member of the training division, Fatima, said that Kannada identity is a matter of pride and fraternity for all those who live in the land of Kannada.
Initially, senior trainer and professor Peetambar gave the introductory address, speaking about the Kannada Sahitya Parishat established by the Maharaja of Mysore and the current president, Joshi. He also encouraged everyone at the institution to become members of the organization.
Second-year student Puneeth welcomed the gathering, Sumera gave the vote of thanks, and Fatumma B. anchored the program. Professors Vijayalakshmi, Chandravathi, Adiga, Rajalakshmi, Anita, and Manoj Shibaral supported by conducting various competitions.
