New Delhi: The Indian government on Friday announced that it has cancelled 14 types of visa services granted to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect. It said that all visas already issued to Pakistani nationals, except long-term, diplomatic and official visas, have been cancelled.

SAARC visas will be cancelled after April 26 and medical visas after April 29. All other categories of visas will be cancelled from April 27 itself. It has clarified that if Pakistani nationals fail to leave India within the specified deadline, they will be treated as overstaying foreign nationals.

It has also warned that legal action will be taken against Pakistani nationals who overstay under the newly enacted Immigration and Foreigners Act-2025.

The Foreigners' Division of the Home Ministry has issued an order in this regard, clarifying that 14 types of visas including SAARC visa, arrival visa, business visa, film visa, journalist visa, transfer visa, medical visa, conference visa, mountaineering visa, student visa, visit visa, group tourist visa, pilgrimage visa and pilgrimage group visa have been cancelled and no new visas will be issued to Pakistani nationals.

Diplomatic visas and official visas will remain valid. The expiry date for these is to be decided by the Ministry of External Affairs. Long-term visas are also valid and there is no restriction on all three categories of visas.
