As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it. Luke 19: 41

Today's Reflection

In the 1st reading, the one having the vision wept bitterly because there was no one fit to open the scroll and read it, but later he was consoled that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, the Lamb that was sacrificed came to open the scroll.

In the gospel we see Jesus lamenting that the citizens of Jerusalem did not recognize the time of the mercy of God. They did not realize that the moment of grace and salvation had come. God does not want to lose any of his children. He is insistent and persistent in his call to conversion.

We should not miss the moment of God’s visitation so that the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ may not be in vain. The Lord really takes delight in his people, he crowns the poor with salvation.

And when we can't find words for prayer, then our tears will be our prayer that will be seen by God.

And tears will also wash our eyes so that we can see life with a clear view again.

We will be able to see where God is and He will come to wipe away the tears from our eyes so that we will be able to understand the message of peace.

Questions to ponder

Have I understood the motherly heart of God?

At times like the Jews,  I too have been stubborn and complacent in my ways?

What are the instances in my life that have made Jesus shed tears?
