Luke 17:17-18
Then said Jesus, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
Today' s Gospel passage teaches us two virtues firstly the Faith Lepers placed in Jesus and Secondly, a Thanksgiving attitude.
Why we need to thank God ?
Very well spelt in Psalm 103 Verse 2 " Bless the Lord O my soul, and do not forget all his deeds. Because God is gracious and generous, we should not take for granted saying Grace is our merit, but it is not, it is a gratuitous gift of God.
The First reading will enumerate the qualities required for a Christian Christian living: Obedience, Openness and Peaceable. Not becoming slaves to Sensual pleasures and Carnel desires. Not living a slanderous life, not envying others. But instead loving all.
Reflection: Am I like those nine Lepers who received healing but forgot to thank the healer?
Or am I like the foreigner, recognizing the healing returns with an attitude of gratitude to thank the hearer for the healing.
