Puttur: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, the students of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur actively participated in the nationwide campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva - 2025”. The program was organized in association with Thingalady Grama Panchayath to spread the message of cleanliness and community responsibility.
As part of the drive, NSS volunteers and Consumer Club students, along with other students of the college, undertook cleaning work on the streets and surroundings of Thingalady and Kedambady, removing litter and creating awareness among the local residents on maintaining hygiene. The initiative reflected the values of Mahatma Gandhi, who emphasized cleanliness as a vital part of social development.
In addition, the students took a Swachhata Oath, pledging to practice and promote cleanliness in their daily lives and motivate others to do the same. The Panchayath President, members, and Panchayath staff also actively participated in the program, extending their support and encouragement to the students.
This programme was coordinated by Praveen D, Convenor of the Village Adoption Programme - St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, who emphasized that cleanliness initiatives bridge education with social service and inspire youth to become change-makers in society.
The program concluded with the message that cleanliness is not just a campaign but a collective responsibility for building a healthier and sustainable future.
