Feb. 17: The sixteenth edition of the IPL tournament (IPL 2023) will begin from March 31 and the defending champions Gujarat Titans will face four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the first match in Ahmedabad, the BCCI announced on Friday.
Men's IPL will start from March 26, 5 days after the first edition of Women's Premier League ends. The final match is scheduled for May 28 in Ahmedabad.
In 2019, the league was last held at all traditional venues in the country. This year, a total of 70 league matches will be played across 12 venues over 52 days.
In 2020, the tournament was postponed to September-November. Held in UAE due to Covid-19. An attempt was made to hold the tournament in India 2021. But the second half of the tournament was held in UAE in September.
In 2022, the tournament was held in March-May. But the entire league level matches were held in Mumbai and Pune. Play offs and finals were held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
