Mangalore:  Srinivas University's Srinivas Yoga-Sanskrit Studies & Research Centre organized a National Conference on "Contribution & Application of Ancient Sanskrit Literature in Modern India" on May 11th, 2024 at the Srinivas Institute of Dental Science, Mukka. 

The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Shri Shri Vidyasagara Theertha Shripadaru, the Jagadguru Sri Madwacharya Moola Mahasamsthanam Sri Janardhanatheertha Peetham Sri Krishnapura Matha from Udupi. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the cultural significance of the Sanskrit language, stating that it has been pervasively adopted into other languages, including English. He emphasized the importance of meditation and God's grace for mental focus and achieving success.

Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao, the Honourable Chancellor of Srinivas University, presided over the event. He expressed the university's mission to conduct deep research in Sanskrit and the Vedas, drawing parallels to the mythological "Brahmastra" used to protect society. He voiced his wish for Sanskrit to become a more widely-used public language.

Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, the Honourable Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University, stressed the importance of learning one's mother tongue and recognized Sanskrit as the language of the divine, calling for increased research efforts to ensure its survival.

The event was attended by other dignitaries, including Smt. A. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao and Prof. Er. A. Mitra S. Rao, Trustee Members of the Srinivas University Board of Governors, along with Dr. Shrinivas Mayya D. (Registrar, Evaluation), Dr. Ajay Kumar (Registrar, Development), Dr. Divakar Bhat, Dr. Gopal Achar, and Dr. Ganapathi Bhat.

The conference aimed to explore the enduring legacy and contemporary applications of ancient Sanskrit literature, focusing on topics such as the philosophical insights, scientific discoveries, and cultural treasures embedded within these timeless texts. Scholars and experts from across the country shared their research and perspectives, engaging the audience in stimulating discussions on the relevance of Sanskrit in modern India. Over 100 scholars presented papers at the conference.

The event was coordinated by the Convenor, Dr. Praveen B.M., and Dr. Padmanabha C.H. introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. K. Satyanarayan Reddy, the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Anil Kumar, the Registrar, delivered the vote of thanks. The program was compared by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Naik and Prof. Rohan Fernandis.
