Karkala, April 29: A businessman committed suicide by shooting himself on Tuesday morning near the Nitte Dupadakatte State Highway in Karkala taluk.
Dilip NR, who was running a business in Mangalore, is said to have parked his car in front of an estate near the Nitte Dupadakatte State Highway in Karkala in the early hours of Tuesday, sat inside the car and shot himself. It is suspected that the loss of business and excessive debt were the reasons for the suicide. He had been living in Mangalore with his family for some years.
A sweet box and a revolver were found in the car and the Karkala Rural Police Station visited and conducted an autopsy. The body has been sent to Manipal Hospital for a post-mortem. A case has been registered at the Karkala Rural Police Station.
Dilip is the brother of former Karkala Municipality President Subhit NR.
