NewDelhi: The Supreme Court today held that if the evidence is strong, the bail of the accused can be cancelled.

A bench comprising Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar said that mere filing of charge sheet does not lead to quashing unless the court is satisfied that the accused has committed a non-bailable offence.

The bench said the bail granted to the accused can be canceled on merits if the evidence is strong and the courts are not barred from considering the bail plea.
