Malpe: An MBA student and devotional singer-tabla player lost his life in a tragic road accident near Kinnimulki on National Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Sankirthan (28), a resident of Kidiyoor and final-year MBA student at Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodbidri.
According to police, a car moving from Kundapur towards Mangaluru hit a goods vehicle and then a two-wheeler due to the driver's alleged negligence. After colliding with the divider, the car entered the opposite lane and hit another goods vehicle, injuring three. The car then rammed into a motorcycle, causing the rider to fall onto the road and suffer serious injuries.
Sankirthan, who was riding the bike, died while being taken to the hospital.
Sankeertan was the son of Suresh Acharya of Kidiyur, a well-known bhajan singer and tabla player. He was himself a skilled tabla and harmonium player, actively involved in various devotional music events. He regularly performed at venues such as Nityananda Bhajana Mandira, Kannarpadi Jayadurga Parameshwari Temple, Prasanna Ganapathi Temple, and Veera Vitthala Temple.
At the time of his death, Sankeertan was in the final year of his MBA studies at Alva’s Engineering College in Moodbidri. His untimely demise has deeply shocked the local cultural and devotional music communities.
