Udupi : The farewell bid function to Rector, parish priest of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of Udupi diocese, dean of Kallianpur deanery and Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, Kallanpur Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza was held at Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall, Kallianpur near here on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
The programme was begun with an invocation prayer song by Milagres Cathedral Choir group members. Felciana Lewis, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council welcomed the gatherings. Assistant Parish Priest Rev Fr. Canute Noronha spoke on the Rector and parish priest Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza. He appreciated the Vicar for his whole hearted support to him as well as parishioners as a whole in fulfilling his church mission in a brief period of around two and half years and shared his experience with his Vicar of the Cathedral.
Jeffrey Dais Vice President of the parish pastoral council spoke on Rector of Cathedral Rev Dr. Lawrence C S’Souza and gave his gratitude on behalf of him and parishioners to the retiring Rector. Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza transferred from Catholic Education Society of Udupi Diocese (CESU) to Milagres Cathedral as a Rector and parish priest on May 28, 2018. He tried his best for the Cathedral in many fields like good administration of the church as well as the educational institutions and overall development of the church as a whole. He gave gratitude to the retiring vicar due to his bad health on behalf of himself and parishioners of Milagres Cathedral. Jeffrey Dais placed the letter of appreciation of Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza on behalf of parishioners.
Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza on behalf of parishioners’ was felicitated with the tradition by the dignitaries on the dais.
The outgoing Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza gave gratitude to all concerned for his memorable services for the church for 2years and 5months. He said due to his bad health, he is not able to fulfill his mission for the church and requested the Diocese Bishop to relieve from his duties and services as a Rector of the Cathedral.
Later, the parishioners gave memorable flowers to the Vicar as their love towards the retiring life for his valuable brief divine services for the church.
Rev Fr. Canute Noronha, Sr. Agnes Fernandes Superior of Rose Convent, Felciana Lewis and Flavia Menezes, Coordinator of 18 pastoral Commissions of the church were present on the dais.
Flavia Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Marina Lewis, President of Catholic Sabha, parish unit compared the programme. Parish Pastoral Council members and others were present at the farewell function.
