Udupi : The DC with team paid a surprise visit to Reliance City Centre near City Bus Stand and inspected the selling goods, vegetables and other materials. He also checked the system arranged for the customers that less than five people only allowed in the grocery section of the city centre. He interrogated with the mall manager and informed him about the government procedure and precautions taken on account of CoVind 19.
Followed by DC visited the vegetable shops near old Diana Centre and gave information about the government procedures on account of CoVind 19 and asked to use mask on the face. He informed the seller of vegetables to keep one meter gap with other purchases and the salesman. He also enquired about the price of vegetables for the customers. There were the complaints that vegetable vendors selling vegetable with highest prices.
The DC and his team along with top police officials paid visit to Big Bazar near Jodukatte here and DC angered with the manager of Big Bazar over allegations of repeated violations of government orders like running the air-conditioner and higher prices for the vegetable items. He told to SP that to arrest Big Bazar manager for violating the norms of the government. The French beans cost at Big Bazar is Rs.148 which is three times higher than other vegetable markets.
Later, DC and police team visited Malpe Fish Port and took the stock of the situation. DC told to president of Fishermen to close down from tomorrow. He told to fishermen leaders who present during DC visit to the port that he warned several times to fishermen businessmen in regard to take precautionary measures on account of CoVind 19, but fishermen neglected the warning from the district administration.
Fishermen told to DC that nearly 100 fishing boats have gone for deep sea fishing have not returned yet. As soon as they returned back to the dock, the fishing activities will be going to be standstill. Fishermen requested the DC to give one more day for unload of around 700 tonne fish. He said that there is no way other than throwing out the fish to the sea. DC told to fishermen that due to the Corona virus spreading, there should not gathering of crowd in the dock and need to take precautionary measures against the spreading of CoVind 19.
Along with DC G. Jagadeesh, district SP Vishnuvardhan, Additional SP Kumarachandra, SySP Jaishankar and other top police officials were present.
