Mangaluru: The Environment Association of the University College Mangaluru celebrated National Energy Conservation day by energy auditing at the college campus, recently.
The program was inaugurated through auditing the power sources and utilization apparatus inside the college premises. Environment Association Deputy Director Dr.Siddaraju M.N explained the importance of Energy conservation, the concept of energy auditing, recording and maintenance of energy auditing in schools and colleges.
Students’ group lead by association members Chethan, Hemanth, Melreen, Afra and Basamma examined the working conditions of electrical and electronical equipment used in Science Block of the College. Data was collected on number of apparatus that use power such as laboratory instruments, refrigerators, water coolers, ceiling fans, desktop and laptops etc.
Later students conducted a webinar talk on Energy conservation to discuss the impact of artificial lights on the human health. Usage of more light bulbs in the workplace causes headache, tension, blood pressure, fatigue, and decreases work efficiency of workers. Working in the natural light of day increases the work efficiency and decreases energy consumption.
The program was mastered by Vedashini, welcomed by Afra, Deepthi and Hemanth delivered a talk on Energy conservation and Faizal rendered vote of thanks.
