Attur, Karkala: A tribute ceremony was held today at the hall of Attur St. Lawrence Basilica Church in honor of Pope Francis, the recently deceased supreme leader of the Catholic Church. The event began with prayers and was followed by a Holy Mass, after which the tribute session took place.
The chief guest, J. C. Rajendra Bhat, spoke about the life of Pope Francis and his meaningful messages. He stated that Pope Francis, during his twelve-year papacy, elevated the position to the highest peak in the world.
Uday Kumar Shetty Muniyal, a leader of the Congress party, gave a short and touching speech in the Tulu language, saying that one could understand the simplicity of Pope Francis just by looking at his photograph.
Similarly, Rev. Fr. Alban D’Souza, the rector and head of the church, prayed for the departed soul of Pope Francis and stated that he remains a role model for all of us.
Nitte Gram Panchayat Vice President Nithin Salian, along with religious leaders, sisters, and relatives, were present at the event.
The ceremony concluded with everyone offering floral tributes to Pope Francis.
