Mangaluru: A special event titled "Vishishtarigagi Vishishta Mela" (A Unique Fair for Special People) will be organized on January 19, from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM, at the Dongrakere Canara High School campus in collaboration with Canara Educational Institutions, by Asha Jyothi, an affiliated organization of Seva Bharati. Dr. V. Muralidhar Nayak, Honorary President of Asha Jyothi, announced this at a press conference. Mayor Manoj Kumar Kodikal will inaugurate the event. Entrepreneurs Ram Kumar Bekal and Lanchulal K.S. will participate as the chief guests.

Seva Bharati has been working for 33 years to improve the quality of life for differently-abled individuals. Asha Jyothi, its affiliated organization, has been organizing various programs since 1998, including the special fair for people with disabilities. The purpose of the fair is to bring together special people, provide them with entertainment, and boost their energy and self-confidence.

Last year, over 2,800 people participated in the event, including 1,200 differently-abled individuals and 1,600 parents. This year, the number of participants is expected to be even higher. The event aims to recognize and encourage hidden talents and abilities of the differently-abled, help them become self-reliant, instill confidence in parents, assist with disability certificates, organize medical checkup camps, provide counseling services, and offer information about government and semi-government benefits for the disabled. The fair will also honor individuals with special achievements.

The press conference was attended by Asha Jyothi President Geetha Lakshmish, Secretary S. Ravinath Kudda, Joint Secretary Ganaraj V., Treasurer K. Vishwanath Pai, Joint Treasurer B. Ashwathama Rao, Seva Bharati Honorary Secretary H. Nagaraj Bhat, and Treasurer P. Vinod Shenai.
