Udupi: Udupi district declared holiday for the schools and pre-university colleges on Thursday, June 12 for heavy rain as per red alert announced.

The disaster management authority has taken certain precautions as heavy rain has been pounding the district for the last 3 days.

Anganwadis, primary and high schools (including CBSE)in Udupi district including government, aided and unaided private schools remains closed. However all pre-university, degree, post graduate, engineering, diploma and ITI colleges will function as usual.

Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned aginst venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily. Nodal officers appointed for various positions by the district administration have been asked to be alert and respond to public complaints. The tahsildar have been directed to be in constant contact.
