Moodbidri: At the Republic Day Parade Camp 2025 held on Kartavya Path in New Delhi, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Karnataka Goa Directorate won the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner. Hardik Shetty, an Air Wing NCC cadet from the Computer Science and Design department of Alva’s Engineering College, had the honor of receiving this prestigious award from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
The NCC Karnataka Goa Directorate sent 124 cadets to the Republic Day Parade Camp this year, and among them, Hardik Shetty from Alva’s stood out by demonstrating excellence in all areas, particularly in drill activities. This recognition was given due to his exceptional performance.
The team that receives the Prime Minister’s Banner has to win several stages of competition, including best discipline, best line-up, appropriate flag usage, cultural programs, best cadet, drill, discipline, and cadet participation in various camps. The performance of the NCC Karnataka Goa Directorate is evaluated across these categories, and the award is presented accordingly.
A total of 17 NCC directorates from across India participated in this competition, and it is a matter of pride that NCC Karnataka Goa Directorate secured the first position. It is even more of a point of pride that Hardik Shetty from the 18th Karnataka Battalion received this award, said Lieutenant Colonel Rohith Rai, the commanding officer of the 18th Karnataka Battalion.
In the Republic Day Parade Camp 2025, a total of 49 cadets participated, including 5 from Alva’s Educational Institution. The opportunity for one of our students to receive the Prime Minister's award further motivates our NCC activities, said Dr. M. Mohan Alva, President of Alva’s Educational Foundation. The trustees of Alva’s Educational Foundation, including Vivek Alva, as well as faculty and students, have praised the student’s achievement.
