Mangalore:- National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal organised ‘FIT India Freedom Run’ under the aegis of ‘Fit India Movement’as directed by the Ministry of youth affairs and Sports& Ministry of Education on Wednesday 30th September 2020.

Prof. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director NITK addressing the gathering said, The Covid-19 Pandemic has changed the life time. And it’s very important to be fit, keeping in mind of the pandemic wear proper face masks, maintaining physical distance along with this, a smile on our face and fitness in the mind becomes the major aspect of being fit. Why the Govt of India repeatedly reminds us of being fit? Is it not our personal responsibility? Being fit and remaining fit is our personal choice but we don’t. Being fit is not for week or month it’s forever. Fitness in well being, fitness in thought, mind and action and in everything. The programme assumes greater importance in the context of COVID-19 and the need to boost immunity.

Fit India freedom run was flagged off by the Director Prof. Umamaheshwar Rao, all the protocols related to COVID-19, including social distancing, are being observed during the run.

Deans, Registrar, Joint Registrar, faculty and the Non-Teaching staff participated in the Freedom run. Prof. M S Bhat,Dean (Faculty Welfare) Welcomed the Gathering, Prof. Jagannath Nayak, Dean (Student Welfare), proposed the vote of thanks. SAS officers, Dr Hem Prasad & Dr Manoj K Shettyorganised the Event.
