Mangalore: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, Nitte in association with Texas Instruments University program and IIT Roorkee under the aegis of SPARC, MHRD, Govt of India supported by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India had organized a Five days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Embedded Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks for Internet of Things” between 20th and 24th January 2020. N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, Nitte is one of the 10 institutions selected to organise such an FDP in India. This FDP is recognized by AICTE at par with QIP for recognition/credits.

The inaugural function of the workshop was held on 20th January 2020. V. S. Ramesh, Director, STEPS Knowledge Services Private Limited, India was the chief guest of the function. He highlighted the importance of hands-on training in the current education system. Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, in his presidential remarks, stressed on the need for interdisciplinary learning in engineering education. Dr. Sanjeev Manhas, Principal Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee has addressed the participants through Skype and has highlighted the scope of the FDP.

Dr. Rekha Bhandarkar, HoD, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the Convener of the FDP welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of IoT in the current context. Dr. K. S. Shivaprakasha, Organising Secretary briefed about the focus of the workshop.  Shankari N, Assistant Professor, introduced the chief guest. Durgaprasad, Associate Professor rendered the vote of thanks. Anirudh and Sarthak presented the invocation. Lavanya, Assistant Professor, compered the program.
