New Delhi: Karnataka state assembly Elections will be held in single phases and the Election Code of Conduct will come into effect from today itself. Chief Election Officer Sunil Arora announced the schedule at a press conference at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi today.

The details of the first phase election process are as follows

Last date for submission of nomination papers: 20 April

Last Date for Nomination Scrutiny: 23rd April

Last date for withdrawal of nomination paper: 24th April

Date of Polling: 10 May

Result for May 13

There are 224 assembly constituencies out of which 36 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 15 for Scheduled Tribes. Overall there are 5,21,76,579 crore voters in the state. 

The total number of voters in Karnataka is 5,21,73,599. Among these, the number of male voters is 2,62,42,561 and the number of female voters is 2,59,26,319. There are approximately 4,699 transgenders in the state and the number of first-time voters (18+) is 9,17,241 with a total of 58,282 polling booths out of which 24,063 are in urban areas. There are 1320 polling booths manned by women and 34,219 polling booths in rural areas and 240 model polling booths.

This is the first time that voters above 80 years and special minded voters have been given the opportunity to vote from home for the first time. . Special facilities will be provided to them in polling stations. There are 12,15,763 voters above 80 years of age in the state. 16,976 people are above 100 years. There are 5.55 lakh disabled persons, out of which the Commission will provide facilities to those who cannot come to the polling station and want to vote at home.
