Mumbai,(RBI) April, 20: In order to commemorate the Silver Jubilee year of the Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the CCCI in association with the Bombay Catholic Sabha and the Salsette Catholic Co-op housing society Ltd organized the 1st Inter parish Badminton tournament from the 15th to the 16th of April 2023 at the D’Monte Park Recreation Club, Bandra West, Mumbai.

Teams from 13 parishes in Mumbai such as Mahim, Thane, Mira Road, Borivali, Orlem, Bandra, Vile Parle, Andheri West, participated. The level of participation was very competitive and intense.

The CCCI expresses its appreciation and gratitude to  Blossom Coutinho, Chairperson - Salsette Catholic Housing Society Ltd and Cornel Gonsalves –Secretary, for all their support and generosity in providing the premises and the badminton court free of cost. Without their support, this tournament would not have been possible at all.

The visionary direction behind the organization of this tournament was provided by Advocate Raphael D’Souza, along with the professional and organizational skills of  Sybil Miranda-(tournament Executer Salsette Society),  Bernard Benevides (Convenor and Chairman Sports, Media and Entertainment Committee of the CCCI) and Kevin D’Souza(BCS)

The 1st place was awarded to the IC parish, Borivali, with St. Blaise (Amboli) as the runner up. The 3rd place was awarded to Mount Carmel parish, Bandra West. Lorraine from St. Blaise was awarded with the Best Lady player of the tournament and John from IC Parish, Borivali with the Best Gent player.

The tournament concluded with the prize distribution ceremony on 16th April 2023, that was graced by Vincent Mathias-Founder Chairman of the CCCI, Mr. Henry Lobo, past Chairman of the CCCI, Advocate Pius Vas, Vice Chairman of the CCCI, along with President of the Bombay Catholic Sabha, Dolphy D’Souza and its Vice Presidents Norbert Mendonca, Bento Lobo,  Kevin D'souza and its Secretary General Vinod Noronha and Blossom Coutinho, Chairperson - Salsette Catholic Housing Society Ltd and  Cornel Gonsalves –Secretary.
