Karkala, Attur January 13: Annual Feast of St. Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur begin from January 22 to 26, 2024.

Addressing the media Fr Alban Dsouza Rector of St. Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur said "The Initail preparation has begun. There will be altogether 48 Eucharistic Celebrations which inclue 45 masses in Konkani and 3 masses in Kannada. Bishops of Belthangady, Puttur, Mangaluru, Shimogga and Udupi will be main celebrants during the feast days." 

"Clean and cold drinking water system for devotees will be made at five places in the basilica. Maximum number of police officers and police constables will be on duty to maintain law and order. He will be responsible for the safety of the pilgrims. The supervision of the parking system of the pilgrims' vehicles will be maintained by the skilled Home Guard and other personnel."

"A new statue of Saint Lawrence carved out of Ekashila stone has been installed at the shrine of Our Saint Lawrence. The Pushkarani in the Basilica and the monolithic statue of Saint Lawrence in the Pushkarani are not found anywhere else in the world except here in our Attur Saint Lawrence Basilica."

Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza, Bishop Emeritus of Mangalore will be celebrating 4.30  pm Konkani mass on Sunday, Jan 21;

Most Rev Dr Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimoga will be celebrating 6 pm Kannada mass on Monday, Jan 22;

Most Rev Dr Geevarghese Mar Makarios, Bishop of Puttur will be celebrating 5.30 pm Kannada mass on Tuesday, Jan 23;

Most Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi will be celebrating 10 am Konkani mass on Wednesday, Jan 24;

Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore will be celebrating 10 am Konkani mass on Thursday , Jan 25; and

Most Rev Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Belthangady will be celebrating 10 am Kannada mass on Friday, Jan 26.

The novena for the feast had began on January 12. Arrangements for confessions will be made all feast days.
