Attur, Karkala Jan 24: Today is the 4th day of the feast of St Lawrence at Karkal Attur Basilica. This being the main day of the feast thousands of people flocked to the Shrine from morning till evening. On the eve of this feast Honorable Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly U T Kadar visited the Shrine, paid homage to the Saint and conversed with the people and priests.
The days masses were celebrated by Fr. John Vas, Fr. Mullers, Fr. Albert Crasta, Piusnagar, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Moodbelle, Fr. Francis Menezes SJ, Gulbarga, Fr. Robert Crasta, Gulbarga, Fr. Leslie D’Souza, Shirva, Fr. Alban D Souza, Attur Shrine, Fr. Roy Lobo, Udupi. The theme of the day was:“For everyone who asks receives” – the words of Jesus from the Gospel of Luke. The main Eucharistic Celebration at 10am was presided over by Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo the Bishop of Udupi.
In his homily Bishop said that we have a generous God who provides for the needs of his people. Prayer is the royal road that we take to build a filial relationship with him. Whatever we ask in faith that’s beneficial for our souls will be given to us just for our asking. He will give us the Holy Spirit and with him we have everything that our hearts long for. The last Mass was celebrated at 10pm. Prayers were offered for the sick after every Mass. Confessional ministry was carried out by more than 25 priests throughout the day. Number of volunteers and local police oversaw the smooth flow of all religious services unhindered.
