Mangaluru: Union Bank of India, the 5th largest public sector bank of the country today opened a new branch at Maddadka in Belthangady Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District. This is the 64th Union Bank of India branch in the District. The branch is inaugurated by Shri Kusumadhara B., Executive Officer, Taluka Panchayat, Belthangady. He said at the event that, National Banks are involved in the nation building activity and doing yeoman service for the general public & he requested everyone to avail services of Union Bank of India.
Speaking on the occasion, M. Ravindra Babu, Field General Manager, Mangaluru Zone said that very purpose of branch opening is to serve the agriculture segment & people who do not have access to formal finance. Bank is taking care of people and working as intermediary between savers and assets creators. We are offering good rate of interest to depositors, seniors' citizens and charging reasonable rates to the loan customers. Ratheesh R., General Manager, Transaction Banking Department said that the branch will help the customers for financial literacy, the opening of new branch reinforces our commitment to providing banking services to the rural customers.
Mahesha J., Regional Head, Mangaluru Region said that people of Maddadka were deprived of the banking as there was no bank present there over the years.
