Mangalore, September 6, 2023: In the course of Nation Building and Youth empowerment, Union Bank of India is organizing National Level General Awareness Quiz Competition for children – “U Genius 2023” for students of 8th to 12th std. Under this activity Mangalore City round was organized by the Union Bank of India at its Auditorium in Central Office Annex. Building in the city.
A total of 366 Teams consisting of 732 students from the schools of Mangalore and Udupi cites, Dakshina Kannada & Udupi Districts and from Northern Kerala viz, Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kasargod districts participated in the event.
The students from Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Calicut University Campus, Calicut Master Sreenandh Suresh and Master P Navaneeth Krishnan won the 1st Prize of Mangalore City round of U- Genius 2023. Master K Sayanth and Master K Krishnajith from Chattanchal Higher Secondary School, Chattanchal, Kasargod became the runner up. The winning team will now participate in semi-finals and further Grand Finale at Mumbai in November 2023.
The competition was organized in two phases viz., Preliminary Round (written test) and city level final round for Mangalore Centre. A total of Six teams qualified for the city level final round. Apart from Winner and 1st Runner Up, other finalists were from Sharada Vidyalaya P U College, Mangalore, Madhava Kripa School, Manipal, Expert P.U College, Kodialbail, Mangalore and Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore.
C D Jayanna, Deputy Director of Pre University, Dakshina Kannada inaugurated the programme. He said that quiz competition gives the platform to the students to show their capabilities. Along with studies, participating in such competitions helps the students. We should give our best and should not worry about winning or losing, participation is important, he said.
Chief Guest Dr. Chandragupta, IPS, DIGP, Western Range and Guest of Honour Shri Narendra L Nayak, Chairman, Expert Educational & Charitable Foundation, distributed the prizes to winners. Dr. Chandragupta advised the students to put all efforts in whichever activities they participate. He appreciated the Bank for conducting such activities for young people. Shri Narendra L Nayak complimented the Bank for conducting “U Genius” Quiz Programme. The Bank is creating awareness among the students by conducting such activities, he said.
Rashmi Furtado who hails from Mulky, the only professional woman quiz host in Asia to have hosted over a 500 plus shows in India and Abroad was the Quiz Master for the Event.
