Mangaluru: The 6 th Month’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan of Ramakrishna Mission was carried out on 10-03-2024 from 7.30 am to 10 am in Main Post Office area in Mangalore. In the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore, Rev. Fr. Alfred Pinto, Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral, President of Indian Medical Association, Mangalore division Dr Ranjan  Senior Officer of Mangalore Chief Post Office Shankar K Jointly flagged off the abhiyan. Dr Dhanesh Kumar, Army Veteran Bellala Gopinath Rao, Kamalaksha Pai, K V Sathyanarayana  many others were present on the occasion.

Speaking of the occasion, Rev Father Alfred Pinto lauded the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission’s Swacchata Abhiyan and how it has been very effective in creating awareness in the people about cleanliness, not only in city limits but also in rural areas. He also applauded that students & youngsters are taking lead in the abhiyan.

Dr Ranjan, President of Mangalore Division of Indian Medical Association said, “We are proud to associate with this Abhiyan. We shall continue to support Ramakrishna Mission in such endeavours.”

The dignitaries symbolically cleaned the Rosario Church Road. Balakrishna Bhat, Mehboob, Dr Tanishk led the group of students of Nitte Physiotherapy college under the guidance of Prof Rakesh Krishna in cleaning the backside of BSNL office.

Senior volunteers Shivaram, Aniruddh Nayak, Dr Krishna Sharan, CA Vishnu Shastri others cleaned the footpaths drains and removed loads of garbage. Kodange Balakrishna Nayak led the young volunteers in removing the illegal banners displayed in the area.

Senior Volunteers Vittaldas Prabhu, Uday K P, Taranath Alva, Yogish Kayarthadka, Umanath Kotekar, Babitha Shetty, Vasanthi Nayak, Sunanda Shivaram, Employees of Posal Department, Chandrashekar Shetty, Nishan, Raj Kumar, Juhi Kumari, K Gayathri, Roopa, Venkateswaran, Sangeetha, Sowmya, Venkatesh, Jayalakshmi, Hemachandra, Harish, Deepa, Chethan, Jayanthi, Lecturers of SDM PG Institute, Prof Ramya Shetty & Dr Pramila Shetty and PG students of the institute cleaned the premises of Post Office & backside of Commissioner’s Office and alongside main compound.

Wall Painting on Retention wall at State Bank Service Bus Stand: In the last month’s Abhiyan at State Bank Service Bus stand’s picture has changed for better. Heps of garbage lying on the right side of the Bus stand has finally disappeared thanks to the efforts of the volunteers and the space is being put to good use. The retention wall is painted and the young artists are drawing Warli art on the wall beautifying the spot. Many people are found to visit the place, appreciate the art work and even take selfie on the spot. Awareness is being spread through writings on the wall discouraging the people from urinating there. MRPL Bus owners drivesr have joined hands in this noble task.
