Teertha Samadev, who is training at the newly constructed swimming pool at Emme Lake in Mangaluru—developed under the Smart City project—has been selected to represent India in the World Swimming Championship to be held in Otopeni, Romania, from August 19 to 24.
He has secured a place in the list of 10 swimmers released by the Swimming Federation of India. Although he currently represents Andhra Pradesh, he has relocated to Mangaluru's Emme Lake area for training purposes.
Teertha is training under coach Abhilash, a recipient of the Vishwamitra Award, at the We One Aqua Center.
For the first time, a swimmer training in Mangaluru has been selected for an international-level competition, expressed directors Naveen and Roopa Prabhu, who shared their happiness over this achievement.
