Mangalore:  heart attack is called myocardial infarction in medical language. In this, the blood supply to the heart muscle stops. The number of people dying from heart attacks is increasing rapidly. This is due not only to a bad lifestyle but also to ignoring the symptoms of a heart attack or delaying their understanding.

A heart specialist has spoken about the three main symptoms that appear before a heart attack. He said that the reason for the increase in the number of deaths is that people ignore these symptoms by associating them with other diseases.

Chest pain or pressure:

The most common and primary symptom of a heart attack is chest pain. People often experience it in different forms such as pressure, tightness, heaviness or aching. If this pain persists for a few minutes and spreads to the shoulder, arm or jaw, it may be a sign of a heart attack.

Shortness of breath:

If you experience shortness of breath even without any physical effort, it may be a sign of heart failure. When the heart does not function properly, fluid starts to accumulate in the lungs. This can lead to difficulty breathing.

Stomach pain:

A feeling of constant stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting. People often ignore this as indigestion. But it could be a sign of a heart attack.

Women should not ignore this sign:

Stomach pain is a common symptom of a heart attack in people over 50 and women. If the stomach pain starts suddenly with nausea and doesn't go away within a few minutes, it could be a sign of a heart attack.

Also watch out for these symptoms:

- Heaviness, burning, or pressure in the chest that spreads to the back, neck, jaw, or arms

- Restlessness, panic, or a fear that something bad is going to happen

- Dizziness or fainting

- Rapid heartbeat

- Insomnia or waking up frequently from sleep.
