Puttur, Nov 11: In a remarkable academic achievement, postgraduate students Sumukh M. and Shoshann Kumar N. from the Physics Department of St Philomena (Autonomous) College, Puttur, have had their MSc Physics project published as a full-fledged research paper in the highly reputed international journal Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing.

Their research article, titled “Flexible PVA/Silver Sulfide Nano-Hybrid Films as Dual Functional Materials for UV Shielding and Nonlinear Optical Applications,” appeared in a journal ranked Q1 and carrying an impressive 4.6 impact factor demonstrating high scientific recognition in the field.

Guided by Dr Shilpa M.P., Assistant Professor in the MSc Physics department, the project was carried out in the VGST-sponsored Solid State Research Laboratory under the mentorship of Dr A.P. Radhakrishna. The research focused on the synthesis and application of advanced materials capable of blocking ultraviolet and intense laser radiation, a topic that holds considerable importance for both scientific progress and practical technological innovation.

The principal of the College, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, expressed his delight and congratulated the students for their diligence and research acumen. He praised the Physics department for fostering such a high standard of scientific inquiry and hard work among its students.
