Bengaluru: The State Human Rights Commission has imposed a fine rs.50,000 on Sub-Inspector Harish of Chelur Police Station in Tumkur district and recommended disciplinary action against him for showing arrogance towards a mother and daughter who had gone to file a complaint regarding harassment.

PSI Harish and retired PSI Papanna behaved rudely with a mother and daughter who had gone to complain about the abuse of their 13-year-old daughter in the limits of Chelur police station. Harish had threatened to kick them out if they came to the police station to complain. According to the aggrieved mother, when the police station's CCTV cameras were checked, it was found that PSI Harish had shown contempt for the victims, officials said.

Based on this information, the commission has imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the accused PSI Harish and Papanna, who previously worked at Chelur police station and retired. The Human Rights Commission has also directed the government to take disciplinary action against these two officers and to provide the victims with the money recovered from the accused as compensation.

The victims alleged that the PSI delayed accepting the complaint after listening to their mother-in-law Narayanamma, father-in-law Paramatma and Maiduna Madhu. The incident was brought to the attention of senior officers. However, when they went to the police station, they were scolded and insulted indiscriminately and sent to the PSI.
