Roy Castelino Appointed as Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) Of Mangalore Diocese

Mangalore:- Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, has appointed Ronald (Roy) Castelino as the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of Mangalore Diocese for the term of 3 years, with effect from November 7, 2020.

The Pastoral Instruction Communio et Progressio issued by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications on May 23, 1971, highly recommends each diocese to have a public relations person or press officer or a spokesperson. The Diocese of Mangalore has a priest and a laity as P.R.O.  Marcel Monteiro has rendered his valuable service as P.R.O. of the Diocese for the past 24 years. Rev. Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo would be continuing his service as P.R.O. along with Roy.

A P.R.O. is responsible for establishing contacts with media and journalists at all levels, government offices and ministers, monitoring and responding to media reports on issues affecting the Diocese, organizing press conferences and press releases from time to time, preparing written statements and news releases, and so on.

About Roy:

Ronald Sebastian Agnelo Castelino is the full name of  Roy Castelino.

Born on September 14, 1960. Pursued B.Sc. Degree from St. Aloysius College. Started his business after working abroad for 3 years. Established Roy Constructions in the year 1985 which has gained popularity in the business field since the past 35 years. Conferred with Rachana Businessman Award in the year 2018. Wife – Dianisia D’Silva; Daughter – Radhika Parveen. Residing at Makale, Kulshekar.

Presently serving as the Secretary of the Inter religious dialogue committee of Mangalore Diocese, Co-convenor of the Citizen’s Awareness Committee and Trustee of Sandesha Foundation. He has served as office bearer in various fields, such as language, culture, education and business. Founder President of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan (2006-14); President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy (2014-17), President of RACHANA for 2 terms (2002-04 and 2012-13) and President of the Lions Club Kulshekar. Pirjent of Mandd Sobhann, Director of Kalaangann Governing Body, President of Pragathi Co-operative Bank (2003-18), Treasurer of Jagotik Konknni Songhotton (2013-15).
