Mangalore:- Mangaluru Arts Society had organized an Online Music Competition to commemorate the deceased Indian musical legend S.P. Balasubramanyam. Dinesh Acharya Kinnigoli, K.S.Dharani Kundapura and D.Yashwan Chithrapura were bagged the first three awards which comprises of cash prize of R.5000/-, Rs.3000/- and Rs.2000/- respectively and certificates. Total 89 contestants from around the world, including UK, Dubai, Baharin, Rajasthan, Delhi etc were participated in the competition. 

A panel of four jury members comprising eminent singers Kanjangad Ramachandran, Rakesh Brahmanandan, Prakash Mahadev and Roopa Prakash judged the competition and national award winner G. Venugopal announced the winners. Singers K.S. Chithra, Suresh Babu and lyricist Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma attended the function online. MAS president V.S. Ajith Kumar presided the function. Secretary Saji Jacob and Joint Secretary Rajesh Kankol spoke over the function.

In this pandemic situation culturally too we are heading to using the digital world as a platform or a means to express the cultural expertise be it singing, dancing, sketching, drama or any kind of skill.  In view of the same, MAS has initiated a move in this regard and will continue to conduct online competitions in future to promote various art forms.
