Delhi, Aug. 26: Recently, many rumors related to 100 and 200 rupee notes were spread on social media. RBI had put a brake on them. Accordingly, now another new update has been released.
Now 100 and 200 rupee notes will be available in ATMs. In the coming days, the problem related to retail currency will end. People had to face problems regarding retail currency in the market. Even the shopkeepers were expressing their inability to give retail currency by showing UPI. Thus, RBI has given a new update regarding 100 rupees and 200 rupees.
Yes, to increase the availability of these notes to the common people, the central bank has directed banks to withdraw 100 or 200 rupee notes from ATMs. Banks and white label ATM operators have also been asked to implement these instructions in a phased manner.
What is the RBI order?
The RBI has issued a letter to ensure better availability of notes used by the common people. This decision has been taken under this. All banks and white label ATM operators should ensure that their ATMs regularly dispense Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes.
Further, by September 30, 2025, 75 percent of all ATMs should dispense Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes from at least one cassette. By March 31, 2026, 90 percent of all ATMs should dispense Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes.
After the new order of the RBI, it will be mandatory for banks to keep Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes in their ATM machines. For this, banks do not need to make any special changes in their ATMs. Already, many banks have cassettes of 100 and 200 notes in their ATMs.
