Mangalore:  Nasir Pasha – The President, Popular Front of India, Karnataka – has expressed the deep condolences on the demise of renowned historian Prof. B. Sheikh Ali. Prof. B. Sheikh Ali, who was the celebrated historian this country has ever witnessed, was also a great mentor to the number of students studying history. He was the alumni of Mysore University; He served there as a professor and finally retired there as well. He also served as Vice Chancellor of  Mangalore and Goa University. He was a multilingual, having fluency in Urdu, English and French. Much of his research in history was related to the reign of Hyder Ali-Tipu Sultan. He has successfully authored more than 50 literary works including the big book Sir. Mirza M.Ismail : A Great Administrator´; which is a great boon to the students studying the history. He served as an editor in various Urdu newspapers and bequested precious contributions to Islamic literature. His works like Tarjumanul Qur'an by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Alame Islam ke Jawahar Paare´ achieved invincible popularity among the readers. He recieved the first Dr. M. M.Kalaburgi award for his humanitarian service and Karnataka Rajyotsava award was also an feather in his cap.

It is, indeed, an irreparable loss to lose such a great historian. He engrossed himself into the research of history throughout his life till his final days. His life and writing has always remained exemplary. It is necessary to execute the task of carrying Prof. Sheikh Ali's contributions to history to the next generation says Mr. Pasha.
