Mangalore, August 29: Computers were invented by human beings. Artificial intelligence is being developed by humans. Those hacking it are human too. So no technology is greater than the human brain, opined Govindadas Collegere tired librarian Balakrishna K.
Delivering a special lecture on reading habit as part of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Memorial Day at Ravindra Kalabhavana of University College Mangalore here on Tuesday, he added that youth should read more books and dictionaries. It is more important to meditate than to read and understand.
Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai presided over the program. “Be it arts, commerce or science, for everyone reading is important and it’s the best way to increase knowledge. Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, who is known as the ‘father of library’ had worked as librarian in our college, which is a matter of pride,” she said.
Librarian Dr. Vanaja welcomed, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Siddaraju M. N. extended vote of thanks. On the occasion, Vasanthi, who served as a library staff for 23 years, was honoured.
