Mangalore: Our challenge is to develop a global education system with its roots in the principles of Indian culture, said Mangalore University Syndicate Member and MIT (Manipal) Professor Dr. Karunakar Kotegar.

Speaking at a webinar on the Role of teachers in the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP) - Awareness, Vision, Challenges and Response, organised in association with Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM) and NITI Aayog at the Srinivasa Mallya Hall of Mangalore University here on Friday, he said that NEP will be a contribution by India to the global education system.

Tumkur University Vice Chancellor Prof. Y S Siddegowda inaugurated the event and appreciated that Mangalore University has opened the door to National Education Policy. Presiding over the function, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that changing the mindset will play a crucial role in the implementation of the new education system.

Mangalore University College Development Council Director Prof. M. Jayashankar welcomed the guest, while Prof. Prashant Naik rendered vote of thanks. Swasthika National School President Dr. Raghavendra Holla was the chief guest for the valedictory session, while IQAC Director Prof. Kishori Nayak K was the guest of honour. Mangalore University Registrar K Raju Mogaveera (KAS) presided over the function.

Teams of professors, led by a track leader deliberated the recorded salient features of the discussions of their respective group in the valedictory session. About 1000 professors participated in the webinar.
