Mangalore : ICCM-2019 is a three day international conference  starts from 17-19 October 2019 at the Department of Chemistry, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri. The main focus of the conference would be to discuss the recent developments in the field of chemical sciences and materials science. This conference aims to bring together academic scientists, industrialists, entrepreneurs, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of chemical sciences. It also provides an international interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary platform for researchers and academicians to present theiroriginal researchwork and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as the practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the fields of chemistry, materials science and technology.

The three day deliberations would include keynote address, 3 plenary lectures, 19 invited talks, 12 oral presentations, 180 poster presentations and exhibitions. The invited lectures will be delivered by leading scientists from countries such as USA, France, Thaiwan, Soudiarabiaand premier institutions in India like IIT Mumbai, IIT Guwahati, National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology , Tiruvananthapuram, BARC Mumbai. Experts from various industries such as Syngenta Goa;Aurigene Research Centre, Bangalore; Rallis India Ltd, Bangalore,SyngeneInterrnational, Bangalorehave come forward to deliver lectures in the conference on the R & D programmes pursued in their organisations. The papers that would be presented in the conference include importantly experimental and theoretical work in all areas of chemistry sciences and materials science. The area covered would include synthesis of new molecules useful as drugs, catalysts, sensors, biobased fuels and value added products; development of materials for biomedical applications, energy harvesting systems, solar cells, light emitting diodes, 3D printing, nanomaterials  etc. The green chemistry concept will be given specific emphasis. Chemical processes developed adopting green chemistry principles and technologies that are environmentally friendly which help to sustain the environment will be discussed. The target audience  of ICCM-2019 would be eminent scientists/ professors from premier institutions of India and abroad, junior/senior research fellows in the field of chemical sciences, interested students, directors of chemicals or chemistry related companies, members of chemistry associations, chemical engineers and exhibitors from chemical industries, interested people from field of chemistry.Over 200 people have registered for the conference.

An exhibition to showcase the chemical processes and products manufactured by leading industries hasalso been planned during the conference.  Few chemical companies are expected to display their products during the conference. Also, wide publicity will be given to the sponsors through display of their banners during the conference.

The conference is expected to build effective Academia-Industry Interactions through exposing all aspects of various initiatives, challenges and opportunities pertaining to Academia-industry collaborations in India and abroad. The cooperative knowledge creation and exchange of knowledge will lead to innovative collaborations between the institutions and industries. The deliberations of the conference will help different stages of technology development such as conceptualisation of novel ideas and commercialisation of products including the possibility of obtaining patents for scientific discoveries and processes. The envisaged interaction between academia and industry in this conference will help to transform the scientific innovations discovered in the laboratories to reach the common mass through Industries.

In particular, ICCM-2019 will showcase the strategic role of Chemistry to foster innovations with reference to topics such as energy, health, environment, sustainability and everyday life and how Chemistry meets Industry leading to technological developments which will have far reaching benefits to the Society leading to upliftment of quality of human life. It will contribute to the development of new materials, products and processes that are more fitted, more effective and more efficient essential for meeting the high quality and standard of living demanded by human kind.
