Mangalore:- “Man with a Mission”, a biography of Joseph Crasta, the founder and executive Director of Snehalaya, a lay missionary, written and complied by Geo D Silva & Swarup V Amin jointly was released on 10th February 2021 by the Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha in a simple meaningful ceremony held at the Bishops House Kodialbail Mangalore.
The author Geo D Silva, welcomed the dignitaries and presented the keynote. A lay person, from extremely ordinary social background was chosen by God to be his instrument who has sacrificed all worldly luxuries and dedicated his life for the down trodden, the last and lost brethren. His missionary work, his life and challenges are documented in the Book MAN WITH A MISSION, he said. He mentioned how his personal motivation to co-author has really given a wonderful writer to the society.
The Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha Released the Book and said it was great joy to release this book. He said we need not engrave our names on Marble but in the hearts of people. This requires sacrifices and love. Joseph is following the footsteps of Mother Theresa and may his works be continued he said. The Bishop also mentioned that he had an opportunity to go through the content of the book, and it is excellently narrated. The Bishop honoured Josephs presence by offering him a Shawl.
Roy Castelino, The Public Relation Officer of the Mangalore diocese Guest of Honour, at the function said, Josephs work cannot be documented because each minute he does something new. At the age of 50 writing a biography may be too early but the authors need to continue many successive parts of the Biography because Joseph does hundreds of activities. He is chosen one and I am also inspired by his works he said. But the key activities and his life and works are very well presented in a written form and congratulated the authors.
Felcy Lobo, a writer, poet and by profession a teacher at St Aloysius High school Mangalore spoke on the book and in Particular the specific content which is an inspiration for the future generation she said. Her flawless narration and the poetic style of presenting the content of the book was impressive.
Swarup Amin was felicitated during the event for the wonderful work without any expectations as it was his first literary work. Shri Rafiq Master, a renowned social worker and staunch supporter of Snehalaya for the past one decade, compared the program beautifully, in his unique style.
Joseph Crasta the charismatic personality, thanked the dignitaries and the writers. He expressed special thanks to the authors who have taken the pain picking lot of information and translated into a document.
All the invitees, writers and the guests were presented with a memento as a token of remembrance. The Book is published by Snehalaya Charitable Trust. It contains 20 valuable articles and photo albums.
