Kalaburagi: Senior IAS officer Mahantesh Bilagi, who was seriously injured in a car accident, has died, including three others.
The Innova car in which Mahantesh Bilagi, the Managing Director of Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Limited, and his brothers were travelling met with an accident near the Jewargi bypass. Mahantesh Bilagi's brothers Shankar Bilagi and Iranna Shirsangi died on the spot in the horrific accident.
Mahantesh Bilagi, who was seriously injured in the accident, was admitted to a private hospital in Kalaburagi. However, he died due to non-compliance with treatment.
The accident occurred near Gounalli Cross in Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi district while he was on his way from Vijayapura to Kalaburagi. It is learnt that the driver of the car lost control while trying to save a dog that had come across the car and overturned.
Senior IAS officer Mahantesh Bilagi had served as the MD of BESCOM and the Deputy Commissioner of Davangere.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar have expressed deep condolences on the demise of senior IAS officer Mahantesh Bilagi.
