Mangaluru, Jan 08: The drinking water supplied to the municipal corporation is tested daily in two laboratories of Thumbe and Bendur plants. The Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Anand C. L. said that there should not be any kind of confusion and the Corporation is committed to protecting the health of the public.
With the aim of getting NABL national recognition, the work of upgradation of the laboratory at Bendur plant is already in progress. Continuous chlorination will be done at Thumbe, Bendur and Panambur plants to eliminate water pathogenic bacteria.
After clean dosage residual chlorine is maintained at 0.2 ppm. Every month the water quality of various pump houses and wards is tested and recorded in the laboratory of Fisheries College. In Thumbe laboratory after the preliminary level tests like Turbidity, pH, Chloride, Alkalinity, Hardness, Residual Chlorine quality testing, Adder, Taste, pH, Chloride, Alkalinity, Hardness, Calcium, Magnesium, Residual Chlorine, Iron, Fluoride, Nitrate, Sulphate in Bendur laboratory. quality checked and documented.
He also said that no cases of diseases affecting from water have been recorded in the M.C.C area in recent years.
