Mangalore, May 21: Mangaluru CCB police have arrested the main accused in the case of cheating lakhs of rupees by promising him a job abroad. Mumbai-based Masiullah Atiullah Khan (36) is the arrested accused.

A case was registered at the East Police Station of Mangaluru city for cheating by promising young men a job abroad and taking Rs. 1,65,000/- from them.

He is also accused of cheating many youths by promising them jobs abroad and cheating them of about Rs.1 crore 82 lakh. This case is under investigation by the CCB unit.

Police said that the accused Masiullah Atiullah Khan has been taken into police custody for further interrogation in this case.

Another case was already registered against this accused in December 2024 at the Mangalore East Police Station for opening a company without obtaining any official license and providing employment abroad and is under investigation.

Both these cases have been transferred from the Mangalore East Police Station to the CCB unit for further investigation, a police release said
