Bangalore: Don Bosco Church Lingarajupuram (DBCL) celebrated the Children’s Day with the children of the migrants from Bellary, Gulbarga, the fortune tellers from Tamilnadu and the poor children of Janakiram Layout, Lingarajapuram.
November 14 which is celebrated as the Children’s Day all over the country could be just yet another ordinary day for so many poor children of our motherland. But it was not so for the migrant children here. For them it was an extraordinary day that was made so bright and colourful by Don Bosco Church, Lingarajapuram. DBCL organized this memorable day with the generous help of Rotary Kalyan, BREADS, HUG and Rahul Malhotra.
The children’s day celebration was conducted in two phases: one in the migrant colony near Kachakaranahalli and the other in Maruthi school near Janakiram Layout.
Don Bosco Youth Group under the leadership of Fr. Aloysius reached the migrant colony near Kachakaranahalli at 10.00 am. About 100 children were eagerly waiting for us. Don Bosco Youth Group divided the children into four teams and conducted some thrilling games for them. They also taught some action-songs which the children learned with much joy and enthusiasm. It was really heartening to see the smile and bubbling joy on the face of those children. The children also made an exposé of their talents by singing and performing mimicry. After the games and entertainment the children were served lunch, given prizes and sweets.
In the afternoon DBCL reached Maruti school in Janakiram Layout where once again about 100 children had gathered. Don Bosco Youth Group conducted some games and taught some action-songs for the children. Children were given Biriyani, Crayons, Stationery, Sweets and Sparklers for Diwali.
DBCL was able to offer such a memorable day for the children only due to the generous help rendered by ROTARY Kalyan who sponsored refreshments and crayons; BREADS, by sponsoring the stationery items; HUG, that supplied Biriyani, Raitha, Sweets and Sparklers for Diwali.
DBCL is proud make a note of the sacrificial help given by a child named Rahul Malhotra who happily and willingly shared his birthday money for the less fortunate children of the migrants. This kind gesture of Rahul is such an inspiration to all of us.
DBCL places on record the generosity of our beloved benefactors, well wishers and specially thanks the youth of Don Bosco Youth Group for their availability, hard work and love for the children.
