Mangaluru: The programme commenced with an evocative prayer song seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Olivia, Dean for Humanities & Lecturer in Economics, welcomed the gathering and introduced the distinguished chief guest of the day, K Nikesh Shetty, Advocate. This was followed by the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting by the PTA Secretary, Mathew Antony. The President of the PTA, Sr Norine D’Souza presented the Annual Report for the year 2024-25. The Treasurer, Joel Fernandes, presented the financial statement for the academic year 2024-25.
In his address to the parents, Shetty highlighted the decisive role they play in their ward’s overall development. He commended the parents for showing up in large numbers as proof of their commitment to the well-being of their children. He elucidated the challenges faced by parents in taking care of teenagers in the contemporary age. He highlighted several legislations from the POCSO act that have been promulgated to ensure the safety of teenagers from sexual harassment. He exhorted parents to be alert to the motives of others and expounded on various aspects of juvenile justice.
The Principal, Sr. Norine D'Souza, in her presidential address, emphasized the importance of being regular to classes, staying up-to-date in academics, and performing well in internal assessments, as these will significantly impact the overall percentage in the final exams.
Students who excelled in the Second PUC Board Examination, 2024-25 were felicitated on the occasion. Arengza Mendonca from the Science stream, Leeshal Fernandes from the Commerce stream and Niriksha Noronha from the Arts stream, were honoured for their outstanding academic performance. The subject teachers of the toppers were also recognizedand felicitated by the Chairperson, Dr. Sr. Maria Roopa AC, Joint Secretary, St Agnes Institutions, PTA Vice-President, Dr. Divya Damodhar and PTA Joint Secretary Shahida Ashraf.
Jyothi Pinto, Lecturer in Economics expertly compered the programme and guided the proceedings. Shahida Ashraf, the PTA Joint Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. T
