Dharwad, Oct 18:  Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) today has launchedits Merchant QR code facility, an easy payment acceptance solution, as part of efforts to move towards cashless economy.

Launching the QR Code at Dharwad on Wednesday, Chairman of the Bank  Shreekant M Bhandiwad  said that the Government is aggressively pushing for higher usage of digital payment mechanisms, including BHIM app , increasing penetration of PoS machines, QR codes etc. and in that direction the bank is also giving more importance to the cashless economy and has made considerable progress in the digital platforms such as Whatsapp Banking, Mobile banking, Internet Banking, Call centre facility and now merchant QR codes he added.

Bhaniwad also said that  this facility will make payments seamless for buyers as they just have to “scan to pay” for transactions instead of swiping their credit/debit cards and this initiative is yet another “transformational step towards building a cashless economy”.

He also said that the bank is providing Sound Box along with QR  Code that will going to help customers in general and small merchants in particular to run their operations smoothly without the hassle of reading SMS every time when a customer makes a payment. Bhaniwad also said that Merchants will also be provided with an application to reconcile those transactions on daily basis.

Even in the rural areas, people showed enthusiasm for cashless transactions and the bank has also introduced several digital products added Bhandiwad. 

General Manger, IT,  Punith Regional Manager, Dharwad, K S Bhat, General Manager, PDD, V Thennarasu, Chief Managers of the Bank  Venkatesh, Ullas Gunaga, G V Kamat,  B S Naregaland other executives are present on the occasion.
