Moodabidri:- The 10th Kake International Japanese Online Speech Contest witnessed Dacklen D’Souza, a student of the Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, Moodabidri -  Silverpeak Center of excellence in Japanese Language and culture crowned the global winner on the 26th of February 2021. The event was jointly organized by Kake Educational Institution, Japan and was supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Government of Japan and the Embassy of Japan in India.The organisers of the event “Kake Educational Institution” has campuses across Japan. 

The contest was held online this year due to COVID.  Silverpeak Global was the regional partner for the event in India. The international event had 87 entries from India along with participants from The United States, South Korea, Vietnam, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam and was held online this year. Ten top selects from across the world Competed For the final Speech Contest And Japanese Proficiency Under The Theme Of "What We Can Do Now-Overcoming Difficulties" Against The Spread Of The New Coronavirus”.  Dacklen represented India in the finale after he was selected the regional winner after two fiercely competitive rounds at the nationals. The runner-up was Hirushi Netaara from Sri Lanka, the special jury prize was Ha Joo-yeon from South Korea, and the Mayor's Award from Imabari was Nuru Abida Haniawati from Indonesia.

Dacklen D’Souza, the Global Champion of the Contest, has been trained and certified for Japanese N3 level at the MITE Silverpeak CoE  for Japanese Language and Culture by  Radheika Sriraman and Ihara Takamichi, the Japanese Language teachers from SPG. The MITE-SPG CoE is a first of its kind in the state of Karnataka that provides an integrated course schedule of learning Japanese language by experts from SPG. The CoE trains students to achieve linguistic competence and proficiency to clear JLPT N5, N4 and N3 while they graduate and is an effort of MITE to expand its global, industry connect and competence building. 40 Students of  MITE-SPG CoE have undergone the Training in the year 2020 and completed the N3 Level Certification, and are selected for offer in Top tier MNCs in Japan. MITE, which has been a pioneer in providing quality Technical Industry oriented Engineering Education and has made a mark in Engineering education and also has been providing the students employment opportunities with major Global corporations. To accomplish this, MITE has previously tied up with Industry giants like SIEMENS, Bosch Rexroth, Carl Zeiss, Infosys and Global universities like Binghamton, New York, ITE West Singapore, and Kumamoto University, Japan.
