Mangalore, September24: BJP industrial Wing Past president Rtn. Sumith S. Rao has written a Open letter questioning the Mayor of Mangalore City Mayor Divakar Pandeshwar on the sudden decision taken on changing the name of St. Aloysius Road or Light house hill Road as Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road on Tuesday September 22.
Rtn. Sumith S. Rao says "I am a member of the BJP party and was also the chairman of the industry wing of BJP Dakshina Kannada
Tomorrow, is a dark day for us. An institution which has taught more than 2 lakh children from Mangalore for the last 136 years seems to be irrelevant and one man Shri Sundaram Shetty seems more important for us Mangalorean's in power"
In the letter he Says:
Dear sir,
You being the first citizen of this city should feel proud of what you are doing.
Should a road be named after one individual "Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty" Or Should the existing name "St Aloysius College Road" which is etched on the walls of KMC ( while climbing from catholic club to Aloysius on the right side) Unveiled by the then President of India be more important than what you are unveiling tomorrow?
It is a dark day for us and for you, sir. Finally it is your choice I would also like to inform you that this matter is in court and it is subjudice and you could be dragged by the college authorities to court.
Please be aware of all the facts before taking hasty decisions Sir and also be assured that whatever you name it, it will finally be called as St Aloysius College Road.
The voice of the people is always greater than that of one man
Thanks
Sumith S Rao
