Udupi : Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has strongly condemned the attack on the prayer center at Karkala by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike members.
Speaking to media persons at the Press Club here on Monday, September 13, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the Karkala incident is a great example of government failures in law and order in the state. Instead of taking law in their hands, they should act according to the law of the land. If a violation of law occurred, they should act according to the law, he said.
The Union and the state have their own government. Even the district in-charge minister has been also from Karkala. Local MLA is also from Karkala legislative assembly constituency. Yet, single handedly along with large members attacking the prayer hall is not the way and fair, Vinay Kumar Sorake said.
The attackers should obviously learn about real facts over there. Simply attacking a prayer centre is not tolerated. If this happens everywhere like this, what is the law and order system, what is the need of the district in-charge minister? Vinay Kumar Sorake has expressed outrage over the Karkala incident.
To a query on demolition of a temple in Mysuru, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that it is not right to destroy the temple without taking the believers’ faith into consideration. Sorake alleged that if temple demolition by BJP, it could not be a major issue. We can see, BJP has taken Hindutva on contract, he alleges. When, under Siddaramaiah government planned to bring the bill on Religious Superstition, BJP did major misunderstandings and disgraced on the people along with several allegation on Siddaramaiah that there will be no able to ring the bell in the temples, stops Bhootharadhane, remove the tulasi plant katte and several faith system of Hindu people. But, when Yeddyurappa came to power, the same bill was passed without a change of character or words. No matter what the BJP does, there is no anxiety. On Hindutva, we should take permission from them! Sorake said. He has teased that such a law may come in future days.
