Kundapur: Indian Political thought needs to consider the women political thinkers in its curriculum. India should be built on the concepts of Sarvodaya, Satyagraha and Swaraj, said Prof. Varadesh Hiregange, Head of the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences, MAHE.

He inaugurated a workshop on the State Political Science Curriculum held at the Bhandarkars Graduate College here in collaboration with the Department of Politics, Internal Quality Assurance, and Mangalore University.

Indian Political thought has derived much from Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr B. R. Ambedkar, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya. There is a need to revisit them. Particularly, women political thinkers’ ideas need to be integrated into political science curriculum, he added.

The program was presided over by Dr. Shubhakarachari, Principal of Bhandarkars Graduate College. Prof. Satyanarayana, Coordinator of Bhandarkars College's Internal Quality Promise Cell, Ivin Francis Lobo, President of Mangalore University State Science Lecturers Association, Prof. Geeta G, Principal of SVT College, Karkala were present. Dr Ganesh Shetty, Secretary, Mangalore University State Science Lecturers Association, thanked. Harshita, Head of the Department of Politics of Bhandarkars College welcomed.
