Mangalore: The PTA Annual General Body meeting of St Theresa’s school, Bendur, Mangalore was held at St Sebastian Centenary Auditorium on Saturday 24th June,2023 at 9:30 a.m.
The meeting was presided over by the School Correspondent- Sr Shaila, Sr Dona BS - the Superior of Bethany Convent, Lugina Miranda- the resource person for the day, Sr. Lourdes BS -the Principal, -Nelofer Saldanha, the PTA Vice President, Nishita Soans – the Secretary and Pramod – the Treasurer of the PTA.
The dignitaries were escorted and accorded a ceremonial welcome by the School band led by stick major Miarka Kamath.
As a symbolic gesture to start off the day, the dignitaries lit the lamp which was followed by a prayer song invoking Almighty God's loving presence and thanking Him for the graces bestowed upon the school and all the members belonging to St. Theresa ' s School.
The gathering was gracefully welcomed by the students of the school through a mesmerizing dance performance.
The Principal of the School, Sr Lourdes BS, welcomed the dignitaries and all the parents by expressing her deepest gratitude and appreciation to the PTA executive members for rendering their valuable services to the school whenever required.
The PTA Chair person, Sr Shaila BS,a key catalyst from the Management addressed the gathering by congratulating the Principal, staff and parents for the excellent results.
She stated that the school is imparting 'quality education' both in curricular and co- curricular activities. She stressed that self-esteem and social support are two most important aspects necessary for the growth of children. She also instructed the parents to journey with their ward and spend a little time every day with them.
The toppers of class X, ICSE Board Examination 2021-22 and 2022- 23 meritorious students accompanied with their parents were honored and appreciated for soaring towards excellence and keeping the school flag fly high.
The Chair Person Sr Shaila BS, Sr Dona BS ,the Resource person Lugina Miranda,PTA Vice President – Nelofer Saldanha did the honors by presenting mementos and also applauded the teachers for striving hard to bring out the best in students .
Lugina Miranda was introduced by Dr Colette Cabral, a PTA member. The resource person Lugina Miranda is the Director of ‘You Matter ’Counselling and Training Centre. The highlight for the day was “Children need recognition, personal concern,love,smile and acceptance for what they are"
Each child is unique and has a great potentiality. No matter what they score in academics-“Love them”. Examinations are important but not everything. Dont judge their ability on the basis of their examination. We ,as parents need to accept them and guide them to succeed in life .
The audience paid rapt attention as she spoke. The session was definitely an eye-opener and very useful.
Nishitha Soans, the PTA Secretary read out a brief synopsis of the Minutes of previous AGM and presented the report of activities undertaken by the PTA in the last academic year.
The financial report of the previous academic year was presented by Pramod, the Treasurer of the PTA.
Adv Saikrishnan, a PTA member delivered the vote of thanks and Sindhu Serrao compered the programme.
The meeting concluded with singing of the National Anthem.
