Venur : SDM ITI at Venur has received a special recognition from the Central Government of India through STRIVE, a project expanding to Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement. This project belongs to the Skill Development Ministry, by due of which the institution has received a grant of Rs. 2 Crores reserved for skill development programs.
The provided grant is to be allocated for skill development programs, extension activities, higher standards of training and implementation of better equipment in the college.
SDM ITI is the only institute from Karnataka amongst the 193 national institutions recognised under the project STRIVE by the government. The institute presented itself and proved its worth for the grant through different stages of selection, thus ensuring that the students avail a better chance at skill development and better opportunities.
SDM ITI at Venur was established in 1986, with Electrician, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanics of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Fitter, Turner, Mechanic of Diesels and Welder courses. The students avail professional hands-on training at the institute, thus enabling them to enter the professional zone with the best of opportunities in the field; most facilitated by the institute itself.
Companies that arrive for placement at SDM ITI include Toyota, Tata, L&T, Volvo and other national and international firms. The institute also has signed MoUs with companies like Toyota, Tata and BOSCH, which have contributed by implementing actual machinery at the institute through which the students can avail first hand professional training. The training not only includes effective handling of machinery, but safety techniques and theoretical aspects as well.
The President of SDM Educational Society Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Vice Presidents D Surendra Kumar and Prof. S Prabhakar, Secretary D Harshendra Kumar and Dr. B Yashovarma have extended their wishes for the recognition by ITI. The Principal of Venur SDM ITI Vishweshwara Prasad KR and the HOD of department of Journalism, Bhasker Hegde were present at the press meet.
